1916 Red Sox Royal Rooters, Lanin
In celebration of the Red Sox winning the World Series again in 1916, the Royal Rooters made this pin featuring their owner, John Lannin. Lannin would sell the Red Sox to Harry Frazee in November 1916. The new owner sold Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees after the 1919 season. The Red Sox would not win another World Series until 2004, creating the “Curse of the Bambino.”
In 1916 the Red Sox won the World Series again. This Royal Rooter pin/ribbon shows the owner of the Red Sox, Joseph Lannin. Although the Red Sox would win the World Series again in 1918, there is no known World Series pin of any kind from that year, likely because of our involvement in WWI.
